All these services are on an appointment only basis, which is initially offered over the phone, and followed up with a Face to Face consult at the practice if required.

We provide this service to all our registered patients, and also to patients registered with other local GP practices where there is no facility for Coil or Implant insertion/removal.

They also have daily drop in clinics at the hospital.  For more information or to speak to the midwives please call them on 01935 384449.

    District Nurses

The District Nurses are based at The Yeatman Hospital and provide nursing care to patients in their own homes who are unable to attend the surgery. They give practical advice or assistance to patients, relatives and carers in coping with illness.

They use the same clinical protocols as the Practice Nurses so that you have the same treatment whether at home or in the Practice. If you feel you need to be seen by a District Nurse please contact the surgery and we can arrange this for you.

    Vaccinations

    Routine NHS Vaccinations

Please visit the NHS Website here to see the current vaccination schedule for all immunisations from babies though to adults.

Our nurses provide regular vaccination clinics for all routinely provided NHS vaccinations.

    Covid-19 Vaccinations

We encourage all of our eligible patients to get vaccinated against Covid-19.The vaccines are safe and effective and give you the best protection against Covid-19. Our regular vaccination programme at the Digby Hall has now finished but we will be providing booster clinics when necessary.  We will advertise these clinics as and when we have them. To find out more about the vaccine, plus where you can currently get one, please see the NHS website here.

    MMR Vaccination Status

To be fully protected against Measles, Mumps & Rubella you should have 2 doses of the combined MMR vaccine in your lifetime. NHS England are identifying patients across the country with an incomplete MMR vaccination record. If you are contacted by your Surgery or by NHS England, please check your vaccination history on the NHS App or look at your personal records for confirmation.

There can be many reasons why a person has an incomplete vaccination course. Some of those reasons are outlined below:

    • you’ve had the vaccines singularly/some parts of the vaccine individually e.g. measles only.
    • you had your vaccines abroad: we may simply not have them recorded in your NHS record (if this is the case, please email us a copy of your vaccination history so that we can get them added to your record – Email us
    • you had your first dose before the age of 1 (probably abroad) – it is recommended that another is needed in this case as any doses before the age of 1 are not counted.
    • You or your parent/carer may have previously declined the combined MMR vaccination. If this is the case, you are still eligible for it and can book an appointment.
    • You have had the 2 doses needed but you’ve moved surgeries and the information didn’t migrate across (in this case, you can ignore the invite but if you know the dates that you had the vaccines please let us know so that we can update your medical record).

You can find more about the MMR vaccine here: NHS Website

We would urge patients to check that you’ve had 2 doses of the combined MMR vaccination to ensure you are fully vaccinated. If you’re not already using the NHS App, we suggest you download it and register so that you can check your vaccination history. Contracting Measles, Mumps or Rubella can cause life threatening complications.

IF YOU ARE UNSURE AS TO WHETHER YOU’VE HAD THE COMPLETE COURSE & YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS ARE INCONCLUSIVE, WE WOULD RECOMMEND HAVING THE MMR VACCINE AS YOU CANNOT HAVE TOO MANY DOSES. IT IS MUCH SAFER TO BE OVER VACCINATED IN THIS INSTANCE.

Your health is our interest but your responsibility.

    NHS Health Check

The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health. It can tell you whether you’re at higher risk of getting certain health problems, such as:

    • Heart Disease
    • Diabetes
    • Kidney Disease
    • Stroke

What happens at an NHS Health Check?

An NHS Health Check takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

The health professional – often a nurse or healthcare assistant – will ask you some questions about your lifestyle and family history, measure your height and weight, and take your blood pressure and do a blood test. The blood test will be done either before the check with a blood sample from your arm, or at the check.

Your blood test results can show your chances of getting heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes.

If you’re over 65, you will also be told the signs and symptoms of dementia to look out for.

You will then receive personalised advice to improve your risk. This could include talking about:

    Travel Immunisations

We are pleased to say that we are now in a position to offer travel vaccines. Please complete the form below so that our nurses can assess which vaccines you may need.

Please note that this needs to be completed at least six weeks before you are due to travel to allow for the ordering of the vaccine and to give enough time for it to give you protection. We will not be able to accomodate any requests under this time.
